Jimmy Fund Collection
Did you know our Yankee Homecoming Parade was the very first fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund – that is right our parade actually started out as the Jimmy Day Parade in 1948!
Sam Howard, a Newburyport Native is considered the father of Newburyport’s Jimmy Day Parade which was traditionally held on the last Sunday of Yankee Homecoming. Sam ran this parade until 1955, before Yankee Homecoming officially took it over and still continued to collect funds for the Jimmy Fund.
It was stated in the YHC Program book back in 19977 that the Jimmy Day Parade is more then just an enjoyable climax to Yankee Homecoming – it is a Newburyport institution helping the crusade against cancer in children.
Each year we collect your generous donation during our parade. As we are having a rolling parade this year and with social distancing involved this will be a little difficult. We truly believe in the work the Jimmy Fund is doing and want to continue this tradition of donating each year with your help. Please use the link below to donate directly to our Jimmy Fund collection. 100% of your donation will be send direct to the Jimmy Fund.
With your help we can help keep this tradition alive and more importantly help a child in need. Donations will be taken until August 9th
